Pinehurst was everything and some. Played #4 #8 #10 and most importantly #2! These courses ate me up especially beginning of #10 (first round nerves) and #8 (no caddy). Golf is such a mental game, get in the right head space and the ball and club just cooperate. I played some decently darn good golf on #2 because I was just walking and smiling. I was accepting the turtle shell greens knowing these chips wouldn’t be fun. A bad chip on #2 is better than 99% of what other people are doing in that moment, and I was cognizant about that. The mind feels free, let’s see if it’ll help me pick some winners.
Rutgers
Rutgers stinks! But maybe so does Maryland. Their QB Malik Washington came in high profile, but his 7 touchdowns to 6 interceptions isn’t cutting it. Rutgers has the edge in the run game but their slow mesh run is so darn annoying. I don’t have much to say. Lonergan stinks, Surace is awful. Coaches aren’t elevating their team, the list goes on and on. Rutgers has a good history vs Maryland and I think they can CHOP their way to victory, but I don’t have much to say anymore.

Indiana +3.5 vs Ohio State
This one feels weird to blog. Love Garrett, love his work, love that he is a big Ohio State fan, and I think Ohio State is the more talented team. I’m taking Indiana with the field goal cushion, with arguably the best coach in college football at home. This Ohio State team feels different in years past, in a good way, but I’ve seen time and time again physicality be their kryptonite. Indiana is built for the trenches, somewhat like those older Alabama teams that Cignetti learned under when Saban was the coach (great documentary on ESPN right now). Josh Hoover has settled in nicely at Indiana and is now up to 17 touchdowns to 0 interceptions. Ohio State might have the best receiver in college football, but the duo of Charlie Becker and Nick Marsh have given teams a handful. Big time X-Factor edge rusher Stephen Daley has 5 sacks in his last 3 games. Give me the Hoosiers in a nail biter.

Auburn +19.5 at Georgia
New #1 Georgia certainly looks like the best team in football. After their big time win at Alabama, I think they’ll beat but not skunk Auburn. Emotional let down spot! Auburn QB Byrum Brown has a turnover issue throwing 7 in 5 games, but this feels out of characteristic. He’s due to play clean this weekend even though the lights couldn’t be brighter at Georgia. Pre-Auburn he threw 18 in 30 games, and it’s the same system as he followed his coach from USF. Auburn relies on explosive plays, risky business, but I think this will keep them in the game for a sweet back door cover to make it a respectable 35-17.

Nebraska +7 at Oregon
This feels like a big overreaction by me because you should never judge a team by the last game. I’m doing this for both teams! Nebraska is pretty legit, hung in there with Indiana, but I will say playing at Nebraska is very very intimidating. If you look back through the Korner I bet you’d see once a year I back Nebraska’s QB Anthony Colandrea – during his Virginia and UNLV stints. Problem is, I’d wager I’m 0-3 those last three years. This is the spot though, going to an Oregon team who had National Championship asperations who’s close to being cooked. Raiola looked like a Rutgers Quarterback and the pressure couldn’t be higher vs his former team. Oregon has flat out struggled this season. A narrow win vs Boise, a punking at Oklahoma State, a loss to UCLA’s backup QB. Cool, they beat paper tiger USC! I’m fading this Oregon team in a do-or-die match.
Jaguars
DUUUVAL! Jaguars stole a victory last week. Sure, they got to the 1 yard line twice and didn’t score so they shouldn’t have been in that spot, but they stole one. Knew it’d be weird too, that’s the NFL for you.
Unfortunately I really like the Texans this week. Not a Korner pick, never against the Jags. The Jaguars are sloppy beyond belief lately, with TWENTY SIX penalties for 225 yards in the last … TWO games. Unacceptable if they want to compete in the playoffs. The Jaguars also lose their starting LT, hopefully only for 4 weeks but we’ll see. This is an OLine that already struggled in the interior, and now if Walker Little can’t slide in this bottom ten OLine will go down to bottom three. At the end of the day, the Jaguars have Liam Coen, Trevor Lawrence, and one hellova defense. I see some good points this weekend as the Texans O has been more than fine, it’s the defense that’s let them down. Not Will Anderson though, he’s on his way to win DPOY, and I expect him to wreck the game leading the Texans to a victory. I’ll take 4-2 heading into the bye for the Jags!

Titans +7 at Colts
Besides last week, Tennessee competes. They are set to face what I’d call a bad 2-3 Colts team. The Colts can run the darn ball, Jon Taylor is a superstar, but the Titans, led by Jeffrey Simmons, give up the 6th fewest rushing yards. Daniel Jones will have to be efficient for the Colts to win by 8+ and I haven’t seen much of that this season. Cam Ward takes some bad sacks, but he’s played decent this season. The results aren’t there, but it’s a team game. The Texans had Carnell Tate in hell last week but he’s coming along strong, and I think he can get the better of Sauce Gardner. Titans will play a 60 minute game, probably lose, but it should be narrow. Heck, I truly think they can get in the win column here.

Giants +1.5 v Saints
Just feel the Giants have been disrespected once Dart went out. The Arizona Cardinals were favorites at MetLife a few weeks ago, the Giants were under a field goal favorite hosting Tennessee recently! New Orleans comes to town and let’s all gas up the new garbage time King, new Blake Bortles, Tyler Sucks Shough. He throws a pretty ball! Cool, the Saints are still 1-4 losing the last 3 games by a combined 38 points. Jameis Winston is probably due for a stinker but the Giants offense just put up 36 and 27 points and now face a Saints team giving up the second worst 30.2 points a game. Wrong team is favorited here, give me the home underdog.
