That felt good, like real good. College Football just means more with fans in the stands, and the fans didn’t disappoint.
If we’re talking about disappointment, I’m slightly upset about my NCAAF week 1 plays. I cancelled out of the Rutgers pick because I was so upset not to be there after the Thursday night game got moved to Saturday. I also have a big Clemson crush and knew I shouldn’t have touched the game but rode with DJ Uiangalele. I’m glad Nevada saved me to start 1-1!
We don’t need gamble lesson’s here at the Korner, I’ll save the teaching for someone else. But two of my favorite plays had some big line movement after I locked them in previously. A few weeks ago I locked in Denver Broncos -1 when Teddy Bridgewater was announced the starter. I am now seeing Broncos -3 at Giants and 3 points is a little too much for me to lay to you all. Teddy and the Broncos are a solid team and I think the Giants have a hard time week 1.
There’s also Pitt -3.5, which was -1 when the line dropped. Pitt has a fun 6th year QB in Kenny Pickett. When Pickett is healthy, I ride with Pitt a lot. I was comfy to get Pitt -1 when it opened, but at -3.5, I wouldn’t advise chasing. They are going on the road to play an SEC team in Tennessee and to win by more than a field goal is hard to lay.
These were two plays that would have been in the Korner with their opening lines. But there are so many games to choose from, so best not to chase a line and to just lay off.

Oregon +14.5 @ Ohio State – Looks like Oregon will be missing their All-American defensive end Kayvon Thibadeaux. If the line stayed at 10.5 I wouldn’t be on it, but with me getting the key number in 14.5, I’m on the Ducks. Ohio State QB CJ Stroud, albeit on the road for game 1, looked like he needed a little more time to adjust to the pace of play. The problem is, Oregon’s defense is fasttt even if their star lineman cannot play. We saw how dominant Ohio State’s offensive line can be last week, but Oregon’s defensive line is a few steps up from Minnesota’s. Oregon’s heavy RPO offense will have Ohio State spread out, and they aren’t used to this speed vs their Big Ten foe’s. Look, Ohio State probably wins, but I think Oregon is way too talented to lose by 14+. I’m going to stick to my preseason thoughts though, Oregon is a playoff team.

Dolphins +3 @ New England – This is not an ideal spot for Mac Jones in his first career start, facing a Brian Flores led defense in Miami. Obviously Bill Belicheck is a hall-of-fame coach, but Flores learned from Bill and has been a great coach himself. This Dolphins team finds the ball and makes plays. Mac Jones could end up being a great quarterback, but his receivers wont be open when guarded by these Dolphins corners. The Pats do want to keep the ball on the ground, but I see them struggling on 3rd downs. This will give Tua plenty of opportunities to help his team find the end zone. DeVante Parker will be keyed in on, so look for Preston Williams to make plays. He will take a backseat when Fuller gets off suspension, so the 6foot5 receiver will look to show out in his showcase opportunity. If this were Mac Jones’s third start, I might’ve stayed away, but I think the QB is in a bad spot in his debut.

Colts +3 vs Seattle – This is another fade spot for me, in fading Seattle. Lets not forget the drama of Russell Wilson wanting out in February and March. Him and the coaching staff just aren’t aligned, and they have to go to Indianapolis to face a very strong defense. The Colts have playmakers on all three levels of their defense, and have an A+ coordinator in Matt Eberflus. This game smells like a repeat of the last time we saw the Seahawks, when they lost to the Rams in the playoffs. Wilson will make sporadic plays, but he really won’t have much room to work with. The Colts have a superstar in Jonathan Taylor and he can run against any defense. This will allow Carson Wentz to hit his receivers on play-action and take advantage of Seattle’s suspect secondary. The wrong team is favored here in my opinion.
Colts 23 Seahawks 21
