Week Four

Positive week! Navy came up big, won outright, but USF took the loss big time. I thought they were an AAC contender, and they still might be, but I didn’t see Miami embarrassing them. Cam Ward is the real deal and is playing himself into a Heisman favorite and a potential first round pick. Navy might be the AAC team to beat after their showing, but I’ll still keep an eye on USF come conference play.
Caleb Williams can play! The Bears should’ve cleaned house and got an experienced coach like Jim Harbough, instead of keeping Eberflus and bringing in OC Shane Waldron. Did y’all see that 4th and goal speed option?! What was that call! And man was that OLine soft on that play. Quarterback play is down league wide because too many teams have soft OLine play. They don’t make em like Dion Dawkins too often! Anywho, I’ll probably fade the Bears a decent amount this year, but I’m certain it won’t be because of fading Caleb Williams.
How bout them Scarlet Knights! Rutgers went to Virginia Tech, embraced Enter Sandman, left points on the board, and still came away with the victory! Virginia Tech is a very good football team (VANDY JUST LOST IN OT AT #7 MISSOURI, STOP DOWNPLAYING VANDY TO DOWN PLAY VIRGINIA TECH). Rutgers has a huge opportunity Friday night when they host Washington. It’ll be a nationally televised game, and if things go right it’s an opportunity to showcase Rutgers. It’s been a long time since Rutgers had the upper decks at even 50%. I really hope people come out and get loud for the Knights on Friday night. We have an excellent tailgate scene, a really fun pregame entrance with a fun light show at night games. Friday, it’s time to make a statement. Washington is a very talented team, with a veteran talented quarterback. Will Rogers is averaging about 250 yards in the air, has 8 touchdowns and has yet to throw an interception. Combine that with their top three running backs averaging 6.4 yards per carry and this is a strong offense. Let’s show them what New Jersey is made of, and get loud for Washington’s first road trip of the season. F.A.M.I.L.Y.. Trust. CHOP!

Navy +9 – HIT!
USF +17 – Miss.
Colts -1.5 – HIT!
2024 NCAA 3-4
2024 NFL 2-1
NCAA 111-114-5
NFL 145-119-10
256-233-15

I don’t love the college board this week. I’m seeing some things I like but I don’t want to force anything. We will remain at 3-4 in NCAA.

Bucs +2 v Eagles
Tampa Bay has a secondary problem. They are playing an Eagles team that looks like they will have a wide receiver problem. AJ Brown is questionable with a hamstring injury, so if he plays I’m not thinking he’ll be 100%. Devonta Smith is in concussion protocol so his situation is a little harder to predict. If he plays, the concussion shouldn’t hinder his athletic ability, but it’s unlikely he passes protocol so it’s fair to assume he’ll be out. I like Tampa’s DLine and run defense. Minus a 23 yard 4th and 1 run by Jahmyr Gibbs, the Bucs held him and Montgomery in check when they went to Detroit and beat the Lions. Saquon Barkley has always been a home run hitter in the run game, breaking 20+ yarders, but getting his next 3 runs at 5 total yards. If Tampa can make sure Saquon’s non home runs are in check, they should slow this Eagles offense down. Even though the Bucs two receivers are questionable, they are practicing early this week and look good to go. Darius Slay and CJGJ seem to have lost a step, and rookie Quinyon Mitchell is still adjusting to the NFL, so sign me up for another Baker Mayfield efficient game. It’ll be hot and humid in Tampa, where the players will play to give the Gulf Coast of Florida a little distraction after Helene, and I see Tampa coming out on top.

Thank you,
Goose
