I cannot believe the Jaguars lost that game but my fandom has nothing to do with the pockets being a little more full. A hit is a hit.
We didn’t make it a Korner play but I talked about not overreacting to week 1 in College Football. Well, Michigan and NC State got destroyed and those who bought the hype of Texas and Tennessee are loving their pockets today! I would’ve had two losers if I was being stubborn, but the tape is starting to show who’s who in College Football.

Kansas State -7 v Arizona
I can’t say I’m liking what I’m seeing from Arizona. They put up 61 points against New Mexico! But they gave up 39 to a 0-2 New Mexico. Then they played Northern Arizona and P4 teams have struggled at times with an FCS foe, but they were down at half to Northern Arizona. Noah Fifita to Tetairoa McMillan is one of if not the best QB to WR duo’s in the nation, but other than that I am not impressed with Arizona. Kansas State at least has a backbone on defense and I think this will be the difference in the game. In 11 starts Fifita has only been sacked 20 times, he gets the ball out quick, but the Kansas State line should generate enough pressure to have Fifita aware he can’t take his time. Kansas State’s strength is their secondary and their one goal this week should be don’t let McMillan go nuclear. They have an undersized but “he got that dawg in him” corner in Jacob Parrish. Give him a little safety help and Kansas State should keep Arizona under 30. QB Avery Johnson basically made Will Howard transfer from Kansas State to Ohio State. Will Howard can play! But Avery Johnson looks to take this Kansas State team to the next level and I think he’s up for the task to outscore Arizona. Kansas State by double digits once the offense scores 35+.
Virginia Maryland Over 57.5
We have an underrated quarterback matchup in this one, and the style of play is feeling vintage Big12 esce. Virginia’s Anthony Colandrea is throwing 75.8% and 9.9 yards per attempt! We’re basically moving the chains every throw. Maryland’s Billy Edwards Jr is completing 75.4% and 9.2 yards per attempt and has a dynamic Tai Felton to throw to who’s racked up 330 yards on 18 catches in two games. Last week, both teams faced conference teams, and Virginia ran for 2.6 yards per carry while Maryland ran for 2.8 yards per carry. I’m not saying throw the ball 90% of the time, but both teams have an identity to push the ball down the field and get into track meets so hopefully both coaches realize that. Neither defense has shown much resistance early in the season so I don’t see how either team can win games unless they score in the 30s. Last week Michigan State’s quarterback threw for 363 yards and 3 touchdowns! Sure he also threw 3 interceptions but week 1 Michigan State’s QB, against a now 6 game losing streak FAU, threw for 114 yards and 2 interceptions. Virginia’s Anthony Colandrea should build off his last week’s 357 yard 3 touchdown game vs Wake, against this Maryland secondary. I see this game in the 38-34 range, a nail biter to the end matching pass for pass.
Chiefs -5.5 v Bengals
Joe Burrow admits his wrist is continuously getting better, and thats great! But we have a not 100% Burrow, Tee Higgins who might not play and if he does there’s no way the hammy is 100%, and an angry Ja’Marr Chase who wants to be financially compensated for his awesome receiver play. The Bengals let Joe Mixon walk and proceeded to let Zach Moss and Chase Brown run the ball 12 times. A not 100% healthy QB due to the wrist while not having trust yet in the run game is not a recipe for success early in this NFL season. We’ve seen Kansas City play so many different styles on offense over the years. Well, expect a heavy dose of Isiah Pacheco as Rhamondre Stevenson just carved up the Bengals DLine for 120 yards. Pacheco will get the chains moving and Mahomes will find Rashee Rice on slants. The Bengals aren’t right right now and it might be an overreaction to a Patriots loss by me, but Burrow Chase and Higgins need to get to 100% quickly.
Thank you,
Goose
