Writing these weekly blogs has been more so a chore this year. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun, but luckily it’s not the highest priority to carve out some time. F it, let’s have some fun and make a playoff push! No more rushing through the games, no more half-assing. The picks have always been a focus, but my “why” was lacking.

This is one of my favorite football weekend’s of the year. It is the first week of the Fantasy Football Playoffs, and we are blessed with three Saturday games! And if you’re a College Basketball nut like myself, holy WOW do we have a Saturday slate! This weekend calls for a bar crawl on Saturday, capped off with a shnowy showdown with the Dolphins at Bills. Butch Kowal’s will be the spot to be at Saturday night. Along with being Rahway’s #1 Bills bar, New Born Kings will be playing that night! Life is good, the hardest decision I’ll have Saturday is where will I watch the Ravens Browns game? Do I want to eat dinner at The Waiting Room or Flynn’s? Sounds like an expensive Saturday incoming so it’s key to pick winners!

North Texas +10.5 v Boise State
Before we get to the game, double digit underdogs hit at a 56% clip in the last 15 years ATS. Many sharps say it’s profitable to just take the double digit dog at ML but for the Korner we only do spreads. Also, this bowl game will be played 30 minutes from North Texas’s campus so it’s basically a home game. I just don’t think Boise is that strong, I think they benefited from a light schedule and peaked mid-season. Over their recent battles they lost to Fresno 28-16, beat Wyoming by 3 and lost at home to BYU by 3. They are a good team, but I don’t see double digit favorite on basically the road. Sure, North Texas just fired their head coach, but both coordinator’s will coach the bowl game. Quarterback Austin Aune has improved as the season went on and the North T run game is serious. North T was not beating UTSA, they are one of the best g5 teams this year. Aune has thrown for 11 tuds and 2 ints on 62% his 4 prior not counting the CUSA Championship game. They also have 3 dawgs averaging 5+ yards per carry. The Boise State defense is more then solid but again, I don’t see them being solid enough to blow out North T.

No NFL this week – this slate looks eh. I want to play the Chargers -3 v Titans but last week I thought highly enough of the Titans who lost at home to division foe Jaguars #DUUUVAL ! I’m close on the Minnesota Vikings -3.5 v Colts on Saturday too. The Colts are a mess and the Vikings are at home. I just really can’t bet on the Vikings (Kirk Cousins) outside of 1pm on a Sunday. He did lead his team on Thanksgiving to beat the Patriots though! I like the way the Steelers are playing as of late but with Kenny Pickett doubtful, against a 3-1 Panthers team I’ll have to lay off of Steelers +3. The Bengals feel too hot and they go to the Bucs who just got embarrassed. Why do I still believe Tom Brady will turn it around? I want a home dog Bucs +3.5 but don’t want to waste my money. And lastly, the way the Giants are trending, I like the Commies -4.5 on Sunday night, but the Giants have been so cold that they are due for a bounceback.
