Part 15

Sometimes we need a weekend off. I just was jam packed and didn’t get a feel for the board. Life calmed down so we are back at it! #FlockUp with a real one.

YOOOOOO #UrbanOut !!! If y’all recall I was hyped for Urban (and Bevell/Shotenhimer…) I just thought we had a winner an elite coach, and a running + vertical offense. I realized how wrong I was and I’m very pleased this was a quick project. As a Jaguar fanatic I am, I’m gonna type a quick segment on my initial thoughts for the next Head Coach.

First off #BalkeeOut next please. Just clean slate it. My personal first call would be to the divisional rival Colts, for their rising assistant GM Ed Dobbs, and team him up with the Colts DC Matt Eberflus. I actually would prefer a defensive minded guy slightly, because I would enjoy the OC just focusing on the offense, instead of an offensive minded HC having to slightly keep the defense in line. The rest of the names are offensive minded guys though. I’d take a gamble on Rams OC Kevin O’Connell. O’Connell was hired at the same time as now Chargers star HC, and former Rams DC, Brandon Staley. O’Connell is 35 years old and the buzz is he is a football genius. He came in as a Quarterback who never made an on-field NFL impact, but came in with some elite intelligence. O’Connell is young, never even called plays, but he could be the next star. The safest hire is Jim Caldwell. The Jaguars might need stability after this mess that Urban brought on. And safe doesn’t mean bad by any means, Calwell went 64-36 … on the LIONS! I wouldn’t be upset one bit with this hire. The twitter buzz is Josh McDaniels will get a look. The long time Patriots OC hasnt made a jump in a while, but its Trevor Lawrence, who doesnt want to coach him? Heck sign me up there too! One name I do NOT want is Byron Leftwich. I’m scared the Jaguars will ruin him, honestly. It feels like the homecoming is splashy, similar in a way as Urban. I think Leftwich’s time as a HC is coming soon, and I think he will do just fine, but I feel the Jaguars is a spot that things can fall apart for him. Ultimately like I said, lets reset, get a new GM. The Jaguars have the most important piece in the Quarterback, but everything else … yeesh they need some help.

Please be careful betting NFL this week. These are my plays I am targeting. Just wait till the day of just in case of a covid outbreak.

Chiefs -3.5 at Chargers o/u 52. Kickoff Thursday 820pm
The Play: Chargers +3.5

The Chiefs are HOT! Winners of their last six and they have a revenge spot as the Chargers beat them in Arrowhead early in the season. I still like the home team to keep it close and I want the points. Keenan Allen returns so Herbert will have his full arsenal to throw to. The Chiefs defense has been spectacular lately, but I still like Mike Williams to have a big game, similar to his week 3 7catches for 122yards game vs the Chiefs. The Chargers run defense is swiss cheese, and the Chiefs found success running it vs the Chargers in week 3, but that’s just not their identity as they run the ball the 25th most in the NFL. Both teams will have covid absences including Chargers LT Rashawn Slater, but with no Chris Jones on that Chiefs DLine, I think that’s the biggest absence. Give me the points in a hopeful nail biter.
Chiefs 31 Chargers 30

Texans +5 at Jaguars o/u 39.5. Kickoff Sunday 1pm
The Play: Texans +5

The Jags will have a boost that Urban is out, but they shouldn’t be a 5 point favorite over any NFL team. Also, just cause Urban is gone doesn’t mean his “loser” staff will suddenly shine in my opinion. James Robinson was the leading rusher for the Jaguars last week with FOUR yards. I’m happy Urban is gone, but the Jaguars are still a mess. This just helps the process, it doesn’t solve the problems. The Texans are a divisional foe so I expect a close game. Davis Mills had his third 300 yard game last week, and the rookie is playing to show he belongs. Brandin Cooks is having an efficient year when healthy, and the Texans should be able to move the ball. Whether the Jags win or not, winning by 5 feels like a lot.
Jaguars 21 Texans 20

Saints +11 at Bucs o/u 46.5. Kickoff Sunday 8:20pm
The Play: Saints +11

To be honest, my main reasoning is a trend, and betting trends suck lmao. Tom Brady was 0-11 in primetime before the Bucs covered recently vs the Giants on a Monday Night. But I feel there is something to the stat, cause the oddsmakers make the line so high that they overinflate it. I feel 11 is too high when facing a Saints team. The Bucs have a great running back in Lenny Fournette, but they are the most pass-happy team in the NFL. I respect the Saints pass defense and think they can keep it close. The Saints will need to fully deploy Taysom Hill. Beating the Jets last week is nothing to boast about, but the way they did it needs to be replicated. The Saints will need another 200 rushing yards, or somewhere around there. Keep the game close, and slow it down. The Saints have an uphill climb against the best team in the NFC, but the Saints are no scrubs.
Bucs 27 Saints 20

Vikings -3.5 at Bears o/u 44. Kickoff Monday 8:20pm
The Play: Bears +3.5

Another divisional dog! Give me the Bears with the points. The Vikings defense is a mess. This has to be Justin Fields breakout game with the stars aligning. Primetime vs a swiss defense and a divisional foe. The Vikings give up the 5th most rushing yards at 129.5 and the 7th most passing yards at 251.9. They also have 1pm Kirk throwing the ball who is a superstar at the 1pm window and mediocre at best in primetime. He did get the win last week vs the Steelers so he’s due this week isn’t he! The Vikings as a whole are not a fan of grass stadiums as they are 1-3 this year when they aren’t on their usual turf. I look for Kirk to go 8-18 on primetime and think the Bears get this outright.
Bears 24 Vikings 23

Thank you,
Goose
