2021 NFL Mock Draft

Goose’s Mock Draft – This is what I would do if I was the GM of all 32 teams. There will be no trades in my mock, but we know they will happen on Thursday. Who do you want your team drafting? Any picks you completely disagree with? Enjoy!

  1. JaguarsTrevor Lawrence QB Clemson
    • This generational quarterback is a no brainer selection. As a Jaguars fan, I’m smiling just typing this. Anyone can fail, but his floor feels like a top12 QB.
  2. JetsZach Wilson QB BYU
    • He’s my number two quarterback because of the crazy arm strength. But he also has a lower floor than some of these QBs. Is he Kyler Murray or Drew Lock? The Jets are desperate, they have no running game or Tight End, and his receivers will be Denzel Mims, Keelan Cole, and Jameson Crowder. Love the talent, hate the situation. Good luck!
  3. 49ersTrey Lance QB North Dakota State
    • With Jimmy G there, I could see the Niners gambling on this project. If he isn’t rushed in, he can be Josh Allen / Cam Newton. If he is rushed in, think EJ Manuel. In his interviews, he doesn’t seem out to prove anything, he is poised and comfortable in his own skin. His leadership plus his cannon of an arm could have him in the league for a longggg time.
  4. FalconsJustin Fields QB Ohio State
    • Matt Ryan has more years left in him, but how do you pass on a hometown kid, who some look at as QB #2. Fields can now sit a year and develop into Arthur Smith’s quarterback. Fields has the tools and has great accuracy. At times I wanted more zip on his ball when he placed a great ball vs like a Rutgers, but those zip questions were answered vs Clemson.
  5. BengalsPenei Sewell OT Oregon
    • The Bengals drafted Jonah Williams two years ago, but he has only played ten games. Moving a Left Tackle to the Right side is NOT easy, but I think the Bengals need to solidify this Offensive Line. 32-year-old Riley Reiff was signed to play Right Tackle, but the veteran is on a one year deal, and shouldn’t be a roadblock in getting an elite Left Tackle prospect. This pick isn’t for next season, but then next ten seasons.
  6. Dolphins Ja’marr Chase WR LSU
    • Ryan Fitzpatrick made headlines last season when he said Tua needs to know what being “open” means in the NFL vs College. Ja’marr Chase gets open on all levels, and will help the development of the Miami young quarterback.
  7. Lions Micah Parsons LB Penn State
    • Coach Dan Campbell’s name plate says “The Dude” on it. He’s a little corny, but gives off a smash moth vibe. This makes Parsons feel like a great fit. If Micah Parsons didn’t have the off-field character concerns, this would be a no brainer. I still think the Lions take a change and draft an anchor of a defense. In a division with Dalvin Cook, Aaron Jones, and David Montgomery, having a downhill linebacker will help neutralize the division strength.
  8. PanthersRashawn Slater OT Northwestern
    • The Panthers have a great trio of weapons in Christian McCaffery, DJ Moore, and Robby Anderson. This is about protecting Sam Darnold and giving him every opportunity to succeed. Slater has elite footwork, and will succeed as a Tackle. Some consider him a Guard, I consider him as an anchor and I want him protecting my blind side.
  9. BroncosChristian Barmore DT Alabama
    • Is this early for Barmore? Maybe. But if the Redshirt Sophomore played for Alabama next season he’d be a top10 pick in 2022. I Think Barmore is a modern Defensive Tackle who has great pass rushing skills. He’s explosive and will get by interior lineman. Throw him in the Broncos 3-4 system with an aging Von Miller, and Bradley Chubb, and maybe they can bring some pressure to Mahomes and Justin Herbert.
  10. CowboysKyle Pitts TE Florida
    • Pitts falling to ten would even surprise me as I’m writing this, and the Cowboys do have other needs, but WOW would Dak be smiling. The Cowboys would have too much fire power to not win 10 games next season. Rumblings are Jerry Jones wants Pitts, and there’s a path where he wont have to trade up. Just call him Calvin Johnson Jr, he’s going to be a matchup nightmare.
  11. GiantsAlijah Vera-Tucker OG USC
    • LG Will Hernandez has had a very bumpy two years for the Giants. The Giants have plenty of offensive weapons, so I would keep suring up that offensive line. Vera-Tucker could insert at Left Guard right next to last year’s First Round pick Andrew Thomas. The left side would be secure for Saquon Barkley, and more importantly Daniel Jones in a crucial year 3 of his young career.
  12. Eagles Jaylen Waddle WR Alabama
    • The Eagles traded back from six where they could have potentially gotten Ja’marr Chase, but wind up with a great prospect in Waddle. The Eagles recently drafted Artega Whiteside and Jalen Reagor but are still looking for that “dude.” I could see them drafting this burner, trying to get the pieces to get Hurts to succeed. Lets hope he has an immediate bigger impact than his Alabama teammate Henry Ruggs.
  13. Chargers Jaycee Horn CB South Carolina
    • Horn has the body to be a CB#1 and played lots of press-man in college. He is my first Corner selected this year because I believe with a little coaching on his technique he will have the highest ceiling. The Chargers add him to a solid defense and fill out their balanced roster.
  14. VikingsKwity Paye DE Michigan
    • The Vikings failed with pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue and need to fill that spot opposite of Danielle Hunter. Paye is all-athlete and needs to learn more craft. Having him around Hunter and newly signed Dalvin Tomlinson should help him along in finding that dominant pass rush move.
  15. Patriots Patrick Surtain II CB Alabama
    • Teaming up Surtain with Stephon Gilmore would give the Patriots a great corner tandem. Sure they could grab a receiver, but after their Tight End spending spree, i could see them reloading the defense. Surtain is a three year starter, and Belicheck loves experience. He is the most battle tested corner, especially going against those Alabama receivers in practice.
  16. CardinalsDevonta Smith WR Alabama
    • The Cardinals have Deandre Hopkins, AJ Green AND Christian Kirk! Yet, there’s buzz they want another wide receiver. It makes sense as Kingsbury runs 4 Wide Receiver sets a lot. Devonta Smith is polished, and will join a loaded receiver room. He drops for me because of his weight. Yes, he can easily fill out with NFL training, but him weighing 166 pounds had him drop for me. His intelligence for the game reminds me of former Alabama star, Minkah Fitzpatrick. They are always in the right spot to make the right play.
  17. RaidersMac Jones QB Alabama
    • I like Derek Carr, and I like Derek Carr compared to a rookie in Mac Jones. But, Carr was never Gruden’s guy. The Raiders are a solid team who most likely wont be picking in the top5 for the next three years. This is their chance to move on from Carr. I think Gruden will see an intelligent QB who could run his system and mold him in to Gruden’s vision. Mac Jones is very average, and could replace a very average Carr.
  18. Dolphins Jaelen Phillips DE Miami
    • The Dolphins have a great secondary but need to complaint them with a better rush. They will be chasing Josh Allen, Zach Wilson and Cam Newton, three mobile QBs in that division. Jaelen Phillips is an Edge. He’ll line up on passing situations and look to rush the QB.
  19. WFTChristian Darrisaw OT Virginia Tech
    • The teams defense is set and elite. They will go as far as Fitzmagic carries them. I would then build a better offensive line to protect him, and give your team a chance at another playoff birth. He isn’t a mauler but will get his body in front of a speed rusher.
  20. BearsGreg Newsome II CB Northwestern
    • I would like the Bears to take the local kid to add to their defense. He isn’t as big as the other three r1 corners, but at 6foot 190 he isn’t small. Leave him on a side and let the rest of the defnese operate. Newsome thrives in defending the boundary.
  21. ColtsTeven Jenkins OT Oklahoma State
    • The Colts need to replace their Left Tackle with Castanzo retiring. Jenkins played more Right Tackle then Left Tackle in college, but with his strength i think could play right. This guy right here is a bully, he will maul you and open lanes for Jonothan Taylor.
  22. TitansCaleb Farley CB Virginia Tech
    • Titans lose Adoree Jackson and retool with Caleb Farley. He is my 4th corner selected due to his injury past. He has a nose for the ball and will create turnovers. He’s physical and might get some holding calls, but he’ll grow in to your CB#1.
  23. Jets Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah LB Notre Dame
    • Sure the Jets need help on offense, but they have holes everywhere. Owusu feels like a perfect prospect for Head Coach Saleh, ho was a Defensive Coordinator and Linebackers Coach. This chess piece can cover Tight Ends, Running Backs, and has sideline to sideline speed.
  24. Steelers Landon Dickerson C Alabama
    • The only way to have Big Ben succeed is to bolster up this aging offensive line. There is a huge injury history with Dickerson, and I don’t know teams medical reports. But before his latest injury at Alabama he was the best Center in college football. This will protect Ben, and his predecessor.
  25. Jaguars Trevon Moehrig S TCU
    • The Jaguars have a swiss-cheese defense but have some young pieces. Add Moehrig to play free safety, and he can be a building block. He is the type of safety you let roam as a center fielder, but don’t always expect an interception. You’ll get some heavy hits as he closes in on defenders.
  26. BrownsAzeez Ojulari DE Georgia
    • The Browns have Garrett and Clowney under contract but i could see them drafting a pure Edge. Ojulari is a pass rush specialist, and with a loaded roster like the Browns, I could see them using a luxury pick. Azeez will wreck havoc on 3rd downs for years to come.
  27. RavensRashod Bateman WR Minnisota
    • The Ravens have some decent pass catching options but they need a dude. Hollywood Brown will still be the burner, and Bateman can play a little underneath. He is a stronger WR who will be a target for first downs.
  28. SaintsZaven Collins LB Tulsa
    • Collins is huge for a Linebacker at 6foot5 260 pounds. He is more of a run stopper and tackle machine but will offer some pass defense help. With Brees retiring, the Saints should sure up their defense to find their identity. Collins will be an impact player and Demario Davis needs some help with the Linebacker core.
  29. Packers Jamin Davis LB Kentucky
    • Jamin Davis would fit the Packers 3-4 base scheme well. He’s a big player and can fill running lane holes. He’s a downhill Linebacker and if he isn’t getting the tackle, his teammates would be freed up from his rush pursuit. The Packers need an upgrade in the middle.
  30. Bills Najee Harris RB Alabama
    • The Bills redzone running back is Josh Allen. He’s huge, there’s nothing too wrong with that. But Najee Harris would be a good complement to Devin Singletery. Najee Harris feels Buffalo. He’s a 6foot1 built running back, who will make a living in between the tackles. The Bills offense sputtered at times, and Harris will add consistency. This could be the layer that pushes them to a Super Bowl.
  31. ChiefsTerrace Marshall WR LSU
    • Losing Sammy Watkins, the Chiefs could use a #2. Watkins role was never that huge, but to have a big bodied WR to complement Kelce and Hill should keep Patrick Mahomes happy. Marshall almost reminds me of Allen Robinson, not the fastest, but just goes up and gets it. Marshall will attack the 50/50 balls and make them 75/25.
  32. BucsJayson Oweh DE Penn State
    • There isn’t many if any holes on the Bucs roster. Which is why its a good spot to take this raw prospect. He reminds me of Jason Pierre Paul, a straight athletic freak. The Bucs have a great defensive line, but you always can add more pass rushers. Oweh probably wont have that much of an impact this season, but having him around this group of guys could lead to him being a Pro Bowl edge defender.

Thank you,
Goose
