Week 16 is special in the NFL. It is the Fantasy Football Championship for the lucky few! I am part of the lucky few in the League of Lakers. Way back when, I introduced y’all to the LoL on how we do a nice “Olympics” before the draft. The Olympics put me in the right mindset come draft time as I was able to snag my cornerstones on my team. DeAndre Hopkins – Dalvin Cook – George Kittle – Chris Godwin. Oh and MVP Lamar Jackson later on! But Dalvin Cook and Chris Godwin are hurt, Goose. Well I flipped Godwin for Davante Adams (to the guy I’m actually facing in the finals) and have Mattison and Boone on the bench! Boom!
The NFL did a very good job with the scheduling this week. The three Saturday games rock, and there is a crucial Monday Night game. We get to watch Lamar Action Jackson at 1, laugh about the Cowboys Eagles at 4, and get reminded that Mahomes is the best quarterback on Sunday night! Best of luck for all, and enjoy the three day show!
Recap

Kent State +6.5 vs Utah State – Alright, the total for this game is a wild 67.5. I don’t have stats behind it, but when the totals are this high, I like to side with a dog if the spread feels a little wide. This should be a track meet, where you very well will see some prevent defenses. What helps Kent State is, they rarely turn the ball over. Their QB has two interceptions, and they fumbled the ball 7 times. The key will be to continue to protect the rock. Utah State is a turnover machine so steal a possession and keep this track meet close. Utah State 35 Kent State 31
Liberty +4 vs Georgia Southern – My ride-or-die’s! Liberty does very well vs schools the same size as them. They are more on the undersized team so couldn’t keep up with the likes of Rutgers BYU and Virginia. Georgia Southern is based on the run, so Liberty will have to dig in the trenches which isn’t in their favor. But this offense is just dynamic and fun to watch. They take risks and push the ball down the field. Coach Freeze will be ready to have his team fired up. Liberty 31 Georgia Southern 28
Washington -3.5 vs Boise State – If Washington’s coach, Coach Peterson, wasn’t stepping down after this game, I think I just wouldn’t touch a side. But with the added emotion, as he plays his former team in Boise State has me liking this one. I feel Washington is better than their 7-5 record. They compete against tough teams like Utah and Oregon. They just couldn’t find a way to win. I think they will be too big for Boise State and will be able to constantly move the ball. Whether Eason is launching it down field, or Ahmed is going between the tackles, I like Washington to score. Washington 28 Boise State 23
Redskins -2.5 vs Giants – The Redskins are a completely different team after Jay Gruden got fired. Haskins and interim Bill Callahan got this team playing! I expect Daniel Jones to start this game, and while I’m a believer in his talents, I think he’ll be a little rusty. Haskins will be playing a weaker defense in the depleted Giants so I think he’ll be able to let his playmakers make plays. I look for a bigger receiver like rookie Kelvin Harmon to have a breakthrough game, as I expect him to body the Giants corners. I’ll ride with the hotter team. Redskins 27 Giants 23
Cardinals +9.5 at Seahawks – Then Cardinals finally got back in the win column after losing six in a row. Riding on Kenyan Drake looked to have this offense clicking, as Kyler needed some balance in this offense. The Seahawks looked real good for three quarters last week, but that pass defense looked weak at the end. If Kyler can exploit them, we can be in for a shootout. And with Josh Gordon now done this season, that’s one less weapon to worry about in Seattle. I look for the Cardinals to keep this one close. Seahawks 31 Cardinals 27
Chiefs -6 at Bears – The Chiefs are on a four game win streak, covering in all four. I feel like they are getting hot at the right time, and this streak will continue. The Chiefs have the kind of speed and play calling that can spread out even the best of defenses. Mahomes has flown extremely under the radar this season due to quarterbacks like Lamar and Wilson, but this dude is balling lately! But the Chiefs resurgence has come from the defense as of late and playing like one tough unit. Trubisky is already limited as a QB, but this will probably be another long night for him. The Chiefs keep rolling on both sides of the ball. Chiefs 27 Bears 17

Goose
