Chapter 1

Let me tell you all what the Korner really is. Picture yourself going out with your buddies to everybody’s favorite bar Butch Kowal’s. It is a chilly October Saturday afternoon, and you walk in with your team hoodie. You position yourself perfectly in the corner of the bar, at an optimal angle to see as many of the 10 televisions as you can. The bartender asks what you’re drinking and you keep it basic getting a Bud Light. You don’t want anything strong, because there is so many games on at noon and 3:30. You realize it is a marathon not a sprint. Your buddy asks you, “who you like today” and from then on out, the conversations pour in. You drop some player names, state some statistics, and wow your friends over on why this team will upset this team. For the next couple of hours you are locked in, cheering for that school from Indiana you never cared for before. The noon games end, and the first thing your buddy says to you is “who you like in the 3:30’s” and it begins all over again, it is a constant cycle. You drop your stats and names in the corner of the bar and find the next school to cheer for. Reading this will prepare you for that moment in the corner of that local bar on a chilly fall afternoon when your buddy asks “who you like today.” So study up, and have fun this weekend! You can catch me at Butch’s Saturday afternoon, where you can come join Kowal’s Korner.

4 team Saturday noon parlay
Rutgers +2.5 – Alright, I’m a Rutgers homer, aren’t I? But, last week I did like Ohio State to cover! This week though vs Kansas is easy money. Rutgers, by no means, is good. They are on the road, against a big 12 school. Kansas though, is the WORST power 5 program in America. They simply stink. Rutgers should come out on top, fairly easily, regardless if Sitkowski can play or not. Their back up, Gio Rescigno is more than capable of delivering. He played the past two seasons and while he does not tear up the box score, he doesn’t turn the ball over. Rutgers 21 Kansas 14.
Maryland -17 – So week 1, I was thinking Maryland would go like 3-9. They unfortunately had a death on their team, and it seems like the team is trying to honor him by going out and dominating. 2-0 Maryland (who beat respectable Texas) takes on 0-2 Temple. The same Temple team who lost to Villanova and Buffalo (aye good call last week Matt). The trend here, bet against Temple. Maryland’s high power offense pulls away from a Temple team searching for an identity. Maryland 45 Temple 20.
Georgia -33.5 – Georgia was a Tua away from a national championship. Being ranked #3 instead of #2 is borderline disrespectful. Last week Georgia displayed their talents rolling through #24 South Carolina at South Carolina. This week all they have to do is win by more than 34 vs Middle Tennessee? The same Middle Tennessee that lost week 1 35-7 to Vanderbilt? This is my lock of the week! Georgia 56 Middle Tennessee 3.
Hawaii +6 – Hawaii is on the road … going on a SIX hour time difference to face Army. In Hawaiian time, this kick off is at 6am. And I still am going to ride on Hawaii? They come in 3-0 and beat up Navy 49-31. Hawaii has a dominant offense that I do not think Army can slow down. This is by far my most risky play, but I can’t see Army being 6.5-point favorites. I am even going as far as saying, might as well go Hawaii ML. Hawaii 28 Army 27.

3:30 Action
To me this is always the most important slate of the day. You are either making up for a rough noon or playing with house money.
BYU +22.5 – Wisconsin is a dominant team but they are 0-2 ATS so far this year playing Western Kentucky and New Mexico. Wisconsin won both games by about 30 when they were both times 35-point favorites. This week, they are 21.5-point favorites vs BYU so the spread is smaller, but BYU is tougher. Wisconsin wins this one, but both teams run well and this game quickly ends with Wisconsin winning by 17. Wisconsin 34 BYU 21.
Duke +6.5 – I smell an upset here. Duke is a basketball school, but they have a decent football team. They are a constant bowl team from the ACC. Baylor is in turmoil. While they have a good coach in Matt Rhule, they are a young squad who went 1-11 last year. Baylor’s high powered offense will be slowed by Duke’s stingy defense. Duke 24 Baylor 21.

Late Night
Alabama Ole Miss Over 71 – When I watch Tua, I see a lefty Johnny Manziel. This dude is reckless at times, but makes so many plays! I am confident Alabama will but up 40+ points nearly every week. The thing is, this week, they play another high powered offense. Ole Miss has one of the best receiving corps led by future first round draft pick A.J Brown. The reason I think Ole Miss will also put up points is Alabama’s weakness (their weakness is still super talented by the way) is their young secondary. Starting corner, Trevon Diggs, came to Bama as a receiver but they converted him to corner. Diggs was a 5 star recruit, and is the brother of Vikings receiver Stefon Diggs, so he has the talent and the family pedigree, but I wouldn’t be the most confident in the cornerback group if this is their #1. I hope and expect to see a shootout Saturday night. Alabama 52 Ole Miss 31
Ohio State -12.5 – While I consider myself a diehard Rutgers fan, I have a love for Ohio state football. Rutgers staff basically came from Ohio State, and well Ohio State just wins! Dwayne Haskins has something to prove Saturday night. Against Rutgers, coach rolled with the backup Tate Martell when the game got out of hand. Haskins saw him shine and probably does not want to see Martell play for the rest of the year. This is Haskins show, and Saturday night, he will show what makes him one of the best quarterbacks in the nation. Ohio State 42 TCU 27.

NFL Picks
Eagles -3.5 – The Bucs looked real good last week beating the Saints in a shootout. Fitzmagic was on throwing dimes all over the field. I expect the Bucs to come back down to earth after week 1. If the Bucs lost to the Saints this spread would be closer to 10 points. I will gladly take the defending champs in the Eagles. Foles hasn’t looked sharp all year, but they have a swarming defense that will severely slow down the Bucs. Fly Eagles Fly! Eagles 27 Bucs 17.
Vikings -1 – If Aaron Rodgers cant suit up this is almost a given the Vikings come out with a win. If Rodgers suits up, he won’t have Khalil Mack chasing him, but he will have the whole defensive line unit from the Vikings chasing him. Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter coming off the edge is not something you want to face on Sunday. The Vikings have the most talented roster in the NFL, and know they can steal a road division win vs a banged up Rodgers and the Packers. Vikings 28 Packers 17.
Giants +3 – The Giants game plan will be heavily focused on stopping Ezekiel Elliott. They saw last week how poor the Cowboys passing game is this season, with Dak only throwing for 170 yards and taking 6 sacks! Dak is a great game manager, but he isn’t built to lead a team like Russell Wilson can for the Seahawks. The Giants on the other hand, have an explosive offense. The Eli to Odell connection is back, and now they have Saquon Barkley to open things up. The Giants get back on track, getting a win in Jerry World. Giants 21 Cowboys 17.

Well, that’s my picks for the week ladies and gentleman! Let me know what ya think! Did I miss your lock of the week? Are we on the same page? Comment below and lets all get after it this weekend! Best of Luck!
