Week 4

Fall. I love the Fall! But the Fall doesn’t love me. My allergies get worse this time of the year than in the Spring! Despite not being able to breathe. The Fall is great though because football season comes in full effect! I’m a big fan of High School football (shout out Rahway 2-0 won 50-0 and 61-7) and I enjoyed (kinda) my time on the team. It was a trade-off of getting plenty of headaches for all the locker room and gameday memories. I enjoyed walking to practice on Friday’s rocking the jersey and the puka shell necklace. Especially this time of the year where the weather begins to change, the leaves begin to fall and the school year becomes routine.

Rahway Football, as mentioned above, is off to another hot start. They won their first two, but they were against teams that aren’t the most talented. They lost a decent amount of play makers last year and I’m not sure if they can repeat last year’s success. Last year they lost in the sectional finals to Summit, who Rahway has split 2-2 the last 4 but before that I feel Summit has won the last like 10. Rahway takes on Summit this Saturday where you will find the Goose cheering on the local teens! Rahway will rely on the running attack and a stout hard-hitting defense to pull off the mild upset. Rumor is, Randazzo’s in Summit after for the best Italian food in Union County!!

Thirsty Thursdays!

Memphis -10.5 vs Navy – Thursday we start off with a battle of two undefeated! Memphis has been more then impressive this season with a dynamic offense and a pretty stingy defense! Navy is actually 6-0 in their last 6 against the spread, but I’m just not feeling the midshipmen. I think I am being a prisoner of the atmosphere, but with Memphis’s explosive offense, home on a Thursday night, wearing their black uniforms, I just see them rolling. Navy is led by a senior QB, but I think they are due for a letdown. Memphis 35 Navy 21

Eagles +4 at Packers – The Eagles are 1-2 and they better be full of urgency! The Lions and Falcons are no slouch but they barely beat the Redskins and lost two in a row. Some will argue, this means they are simply not it this year. But I believe they will put it ALL on the line to try and avoid 1-3. The NFC North and South has been hot thus far and 1-3 will be a hole to climb out of. The Packers are 3-0 but have been led by their defense so far. I think they will narrowly hold off the Eagles, but I see this as a nail biter. The Packers to me haven’t been a dominant team, but they find a way to win. Packers 23 Eagles 21

Tim’s Takes!

Alright I have two friends named Tim and they are the best! Tim 1 was the “Ant Man” or “Antenna” in the first few articles. Tim and I won a cornhole tournament at the local watering hole this Sunday! Tim 2 was a college roomie of mine who has recently moved to South Florida. Keep shredding them waves Tim!

Best of the Rest!

Liberty -8.5 vs New Mexico – Liberty Liberty Liberty, Liberty!! Liberty’s offense has woken up and they can play! As a Rutgers fan I have my eye on Liberty cause the two of them will meet later this year. I’m scared that Liberty will be like Buffalo from last season and embarrass Rutgers. Liberty has the potential to go on a 7 game win streak before they play BYU and I am going to ride with them most of this streak. Liberty 41 New Mexico 31

Ohio State -17 at Nebraska – Justin Fields is the real deal and he fits their system. Ohio State is HOT winning the last 3 games by an average of 56-5 and until they cool down I am going to ride with them. I was never impressed with Nebraska. Many think they will win the Big Ten West, but I just don’t see it. I do see Ohio State rolling though, just not by 50 points! They will run and control the ball, and DEnd chase Young should be able to chase down Martinez. Ohio State 41 Nebraska 21

Vikings +2.5 at Bears – The Bears dominated Monday, and are the best defense in football. Truth be told … I trust Blake Bortles more than Trubisky though. Playoff Blake had his fair share of 300 and 400 yard games and I just don’t see Mitch doing things like that. The Vikings will run the rock, and set up Kirk with some play action passes. I feel like I said this last week with Michigan and got BURNT but … Kirk is due to beat a good team. The Vikings are for real and win this on Sunday. Vikings 21 Bears 20

Jaguars +3 at Broncos – A wise man once said don’t bet against a home Broncos team in September. Seriously … I read that tweet. But the Jags are coming in with loads of confidence and it starts with Gardner Minshew. Playing on the road in week 2 wasn’t pretty for the rookie. But the coach opened up the playbook more for his first home start and the offense looked pretty good! I hope and pray they play call with the same confidence. I am betting on a rookie QB on the road, which is rarely advised, but I just don’t see the Broncos as any good right now. The jags poor run defense could be an issue, but Duval comes home with the Dub. #FireCoughlin Jags 20 Broncos 17

Thank you,

Goose
